Initiative: Providing Access to Education for Marginalized Girl Children in Rural Sundarbans

Objective: To ensure one year's worth of education for underprivileged girl children in the Sundarbans, with an estimated value of 15,600 rupees per child. This initiative offers donors a unique opportunity to sponsor a child's education as a meaningful Rakhi gift, embodying the true essence of Rakshabandhan.

Background: The Sundarbans, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a unique and ecologically fragile region in India. Despite its natural beauty and rich biodiversity, the area faces significant socio-economic challenges. In rural areas like the Sundarbans, girls always face several challenges for education, including poverty, cultural norms, and safety concerns.

Given the prevalent issues of girl child trafficking and child marriage, especially in the border areas of India and Bangladesh, where our most of the branches are situated, we emphasize the importance of girl child education.

Education with Extracurricular Activity:

Integrating activities such as karate, dance, music, drawing, singing, and drama into the curriculum in the rural Sundarbans is crucial for several reasons, especially considering the marginalized children we serve.

1. Preparing for the Future: In today’s rapidly changing world, skills such as creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration are highly valued. Activities like drawing and drama enhance creative thinking, while group activities foster teamwork and communication skills.
2. Mental and Emotional Well-being: Activities such as music and drawing provide a therapeutic outlet for students to express their emotions and cope with stress. This is particularly important for children in the Sundarbans, who may face environmental and socio-economic challenges.
3. Holistic Development: Incorporating extracurricular activities ensures the holistic development of students.
